Born in: Litchfield, Illinois
Resided in: Taylor Springs, Illinois

Jennifer Renee Allen, 45, of Taylor Springs, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born on July 2nd, 1980, to Randy and Elizabeth (nee Grider) Maass, in Litchfield, Illinois. Jennifer was raised in Panama and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1999. She attended Tri County Beauty Academy in 2001, beginning a career she truly enjoyed. Jennifer worked as a hairdresser for many years and was a long-time manager at Great Clips and Fantastic Sam’s.

Jennifer married the love of her life, Clinton “Coon Dog” Allen on Sept 8, 2001, and spent nearly 25 wonderful years married. They built a life centered around family, love, and adventure. They especially enjoyed turkey hunting together, traveling to Cedar Hill River Cabins in southern Illinois, and even share matching tattoos as a symbol of their bond.

Jennifer had a personality that filled the room. Though she stood just 5’3”, her hugs could lift you right off the ground. She loved people deeply and never met a stranger. Known for her signature tie-dye style and love of the Grateful Dead, Jennifer lived life with a free spirit and joyful heart.

She found happiness in the simple things- working in the yard, growing all types of flowers (especially sunflowers), deep cleaning her home, and spending time outdoors. She enjoyed country cruising, bonfires with friends, and relaxing with a Mich Ultra in hand. Music was always playing – whether it was country or rock.

Jennifer was an incredible cook and took pride in feeding those she loved. She was known for her famous potato salad, “birds’ nest”, and a perfectly cooked turkey breast on the grill. Her motto was simple: “If you leave hungry, that’s your fault.”

She was goofy, fun-loving, and always ready to make people laugh. Jennifer took care of everyone around her, putting others before her, and making sure those that she loved always felt welcome, comfortable and cared for.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Montgomery County Cancer Association, as well as the many friends and family members who have reached out with love, support, and kindness during this difficult time.

Preceding Jennifer is her father, Randy Maass, maternal and paternal grandparents.

Jennifer is survived by her husband, Clinton Allen of Taylor Springs, Illinois; her mother, Elizabeth Maass of Litchfield, Illinois; her sons, Cole (Kelssey) Allen of Staunton, Illinois, Caleb Allen of Taylor Springs, Illinois; grandchildren, Hazel Allen, Brynlee Allen; brother, Dylan (Dakota) Maass of Keyesport, Illinois; nieces, Braylin, Rylee and Camryn; numerous friends and extended family members.

Memorials may be made to the family to assist with expenses at: The Allen Family, 118 E. College, Greenville, Illinois, 62246.

  3. Light a CandleSo sad to hear of Jennifer’s passing. We had no idea what she was going through. We got to know Jennifer when she used to cut my hair , when we lived in Illinois. Then we got to know the family with watching the boys. We’ve moved to 2 different states since then. Such a beautiful person. Prayers for the family.

  4. Light a CandleI am deeply saddened by the loss of Jen. My thoughts and prayers are with the Allen family. I met Jen at Fantastic Sams in Edwardsville some 15 years ago along with Whitney, who both called me Aunt Patti. I moved to Florida five years ago but return to Lake Lou Yeager in the summer. I had the pleasure of a visit to the lake by Jen and her family before I moved to Florida. We have lost another kind, loving, and beautiful soul.
