Michael A. Assalley is the owner of Assalley Funeral Homes in Taylorville, Morrisonville, Greenville, Panama, and Sorento.

Michael graduated from mortuary school at Carl Sandburg College in 2014, with honors.  He then worked for Butler Funeral Homes in Springfield as a school intern, licensed funeral director apprentice, and as a licensed funeral director until May 2017, when he acquired four funeral homes from Perfetti Funeral Homes, Inc.  Michael acquired Young Funeral Home in Greenville in July of 2021.

Michael is a licensed funeral director and embalmer, certified celebrant, and a licensed advanced planning consultant.  He is a parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylorville, as well as a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2120.  Michael currently sits on the Executive Board of Directors for The Greater Taylorville Chamber of Commerce, the Board of Directors for DowntownTaylorville.org and Ducks Unlimited, and is a member of the Sigma Phi Sigma professional fraternity.  He is also a Past President of the Christian County United Way.

Michael has resided in Taylorville since 2011, with his wife, Lauren; daughter, Ila; and sons, Vincent and John.  His family’s commitment to community and the families they serve is second to none.

Lauren Assalley has assisted her husband, Michael, since their family purchased the Perfetti Funeral Homes in May of 2017.

She is a 2008 graduate of the University of Illinois at Springfield, and 2011 graduate of Eastern Illinois University.  Lauren currently works as a School Psychologist for the Pana and Nokomis school district.  She is a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylorville.

Lauren resides in Taylorville with Michael, and their three children, Ila, Vincent, and John.

William F. “Bill” Assalley has been an advanced planning consultant for Assalley Funeral Homes since May of 2017.  Recently, he went back to college to earn his Bachelor’s Degree in Mortuary Science from Mid America College of Mortuary Science in 2021.  Bill will complete his state required apprenticeship in May of 2022, and earn his Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer’s license.

Bill is also a 1979 graduate of St. Bede Academy in LaSalle-Peru, IL, and a 1984 graduate of Illinois State University.  He was employed by Walgreens for over 35 years, managing many stores in Central Illinois.  Bill resides with his wife, Carolyn, in Taylorville, and is father to, Michael of Taylorville, and Lauren and Sydney of Ypsilanti, MI.  He and Carolyn are also grandparents of two.  Bill is a parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville, and he sits on the board of the Taylorville and Lake Sangchris Ducks Unlimited.

Andrea has worked within the funeral profession for over 30 years, as a funeral director and embalmer, most of it centered in Mulberry Grove and Greenville. She received her mortuary science degree in 1990, after which, she started working for Schildknecht Funeral Homes in Mulberry Grove, Greenville, and Coffeen.  Over the years, the funeral homes have changed owners, but Andrea has proved her incredible value, and has been able to stay in her hometown and serve the families she truly knows and cares for. Andrea has been employed by Assalley Funeral Homes and their five locations since July of 2021.

The beach is her happy place, although she doesn’t get there nearly as often as she would like. Andrea was an avid softball player, and competed in many leagues every summer, into her mid 40's.  Now, she enjoys less taxing extracurricular activities such as attending concerts and watching rugby games. Andrea and her husband, John, have been married since 1988 and regularly attend their home church, The United Methodist Church of Mulberry Grove. When the time comes to retire, for both of them, they look forward to travel and much more beach time.

Casey grew up in the small, rural town of Greenfield, where he was a 2009 graduate of Greenfield High School.  He then graduated from Illinois College in Jacksonville with a Bachelor of Science Degree.  Casey then enrolled and graduated with honors from Carl Sandburg College with his degree in Mortuary Science in 2014.

Casey gained employment with Assalley Funeral Homes in October of 2021, after managing a funeral trade service in the Bloomington area for many years.  His commitment to providing closure for families is second to none.  Casey’s technique and ability to provide a natural appearance to those he is honored to prepare for their loved ones is of the highest quality in the region.  Casey is a car enthusiast, gun collector, and bourbon connoisseur.  In his free time he enjoys the company of his dogs, Trinket and Willie Nelson.

Jim Montgomery has been employed by Assalley Funeral Homes since January of 2022. He is a graduate
of Morrisonville High School. Jim resides in Taylorville with his wife Susie (Hamer). They are the parents
of James Montgomery, Jr., and Jodi Pappas. They have five grandchildren, Eleanor, Maddie, Evan, and
Thomas Montgomery, and Alex Pappas.

Jim sold buildings for 47 years across Central Illinois with Bonanza Buildings, Morton Buildings and Wick
Buildings.

Jim served our country in the United States Navy and has been an active member of the Leslie Reddick
Post 721 American Legion in Morrisonville since 1974.

Teresa St. Louis gained employment with Assalley Funeral Homes in January of 2021.

Teresa grew up in Oregon and Northern California.  She graduated from Shasta High School in Redding, CA, and went on to proudly serve her country in the United States Navy.  It was in the Navy that she met her husband, Michael.  Teresa and Michael now reside in rural Taylorville.  They are the co-founders of Hope House of Central Illinois.  She is a member of the Mt. Auburn Church of Christ where Michael is the pastor.

Raised on a farm in Macoupin County, Patti graduated from Gillespie Schools. After graduation, she worked for the State of Illinois, and then moved to Austin, TX.  Patti worked for UPS in the late 70's and early 80's, and it was there her only daughter, Megan, was born in 1984.  She began a career with the United States Department of Justice-Bureau of Prisons in 1991.  This assignment afforded her the opportunity to come back home and help activate the Federal Prison at Greenville.  She retired in 2013 at the mandatory age of 57.

Patti has been married to Tony Brooks, the Bond County Coroner, for 18 years.  She is involved in many volunteer activities in her community, such as Bond County Fair Board, Lemuel Rhodes Cancer Foundation, Bond County Fourth Fest, and Salvation Army.  She even finds time to drive a school bus part time.  Patti gained employment with Assalley-Young Funeral Home in September of 2021 as an Administrative Assistant.  In her free time, she loves shopping with her daughter and granddaughter.

Debbie Perfetti has been employed by Assalley Funeral Homes since May of 2017, and was previously employed by Perfetti Funeral Homes, where she worked along side her brother Dean, the former owner.

Debbie grew up in the funeral profession, the daughter of Arthur Perfetti, the original owner of the Sorento and Panama locations for over 50 years.  She currently resides in Litchfield. Debbie is the proud mother of her son, Alexander of St. Louis, MO.

Charlie Ruyle has been employed by Assalley Funeral Homes since, May of 2017, and was previously employed by Perfetti Funeral Homes for many years.  He has worked in the funeral profession for over 60 years.

Charlie currently resides in Morrisonville, IL with his wife, Sharon.  They have two daughters, Heidi and Ann, who also reside in Morrisonville, with their families.  He is a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran in Harvel, IL.

Dave Langen has been employed by Assalley Funeral Homes since October of 2017.  He is a graduate of Lincolnwood High School in Raymond.

Dave resides in Taylorville with his wife, Sharon (Kovack), and they are the proud parents of Brittany (Tyler) Neighbourrs, Raeann Langen, and Brett Langen, and grandparents of Ella.

Linda Shafer previously owned Shafer Funeral Home with her late husband, Jim, for over 25 years.

She is a graduate of Taylorville High School's class of 1968, and the proud mother of 3, and grandmother of 10.  Linda is a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church of Taylorville, and is currently employed by Springfield Clinic.

Ronnie McCario : Maintenance & Funeral Service Associate

Ronnie McCario has been employed by Assalley Funeral Homes since January of 2018.

Ronnie worked as a coal miner for 25 years, and then worked another 17 years at the Coffeen Power Plant.  He is one of 17 children, and a twin.  Ronnie has lived in Panama his entire life, and is the proud father of two daughters, and grandfather of six.  He is a long-time member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Greenville, IL, and the Knights of Columbus #11707.
