Dorothy Cleo (Hulvey) Powell, 80, passed away peacefully at home July 5, 2026, surrounded by her daughters. Services for Dorothy will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Assalley Funeral Home, 118 E. College Ave., Greenville, Illinois. Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Funeral Service starts at 11:00 am with Chaplain Austin Fairchild officiating. Burial will be held at 1:00 pm at Sunset Hill Cemetery, 50 Fountain Drive, Glen Carbon, Illinois, 62034.

Born on May 7, 1946, in Highland, Illinois, to James and Ruth Hulvey, she grew up in Greenville, Illinois, and attended local schools before marrying Allan Maples on September 4, 1965. They had three beautiful daughters and then later divorced. Shortly after, she met the love of her life, Norman Powell and they were married on March 7, 1991. Norman preceded her in death on July 5, 2022.

She worked as a seamstress at DeMoulin Brothers and Bridal Originals, as well as being a CNA for many years. She was a member of American Legion, Post 1994, Ladies Auxiliary, where she served on the board. She loved crafting, camping, fishing, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Dorothy was blessed with a long, beautiful life filled with love, laughter, adventure, and an unwavering devotion to those she held dear.

Preceding her in death are her parents, James & Ruth; husband, Norman; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Janet and Don Hartzell; siblings Bill (his wife, Glenda) Hulvey, James Hulvey, Charles (his wife, Emily) Hulvey, Edna (her husband, Richard) Breiman, Louise (her husband, Bob) Linzini and brother-in-law, Robert Saatkamp.

She is survived by her daughters, Kimberly (Craig) McDuffy, Tracey (Ron Farley) Pope (Alan Pope), Kelly (Terry) Daiber; grandchildren, Jessica (Mac) Bushrow, Danielle (Rick Boyles) Pope, Samantha (Brent) Heinlein, Madelyn (Tanner) Tomaschke; great-grandchildren, Jarryn (Brandon Inthavong) Bushrow, Jeremiah Bushrow, Ryker and Clarity Gilbert; siblings, Jerry (Karen) Hulvey, Lois Kimberlin, Betty Saatkamp; sister-in-law, Helen (Phil Cory) Hulvey; many nieces and nephews.
