Helen L. Griffith

Helen L. Griffith, 93, of Taylorville passed away at 7:10 AM on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Taylorville Care Center.

Helen was born on May 14, 1921 at Lake Bruce, IL the daughter of Alonzo and Lelah (Powell) Carr. She married Lyle Griffith on May 19, 1940 at Taylorville; he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by 2 sons, Carlyle Griffith and Kenneth Griffith; 3 Brothers and 3 Sisters.

Helen was a homemaker. She was a charter member of Taylorville Christian Church and a Navy Mother.

Survivors include: Grandchildren, Regina (husband, Garrett) Swanson of Palatine, IL, Lori (husband, Joe) Ackerman of Oldsmar, FL, Jason (wife, Jennifer) Griffith of Shelbyville, IL and Jeremy (wife, Joanna) Sherwood of Neoga, IL; 8 Great Grandchildren; Daughters in law, Judith Griffith and Debi (husband, John) Sherwood both of Taylorville, IL; Sister, Lorene Brewer of Akron, OH; Step Grandchildren, Alissa Sherwood and Marlena Sherwood both of Taylorville, IL; Several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 19, 2015 at Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home in Taylorville with Rev. Ken Manning officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville. Visitation will be held on Monday from 10:00 AM until time of service at Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home.
