Joseph J. Podeschi

Joseph James Podeschi, 85 of Taylorville formerly of Springfield passed away at 9:55 PM on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at Gowin Parc in Taylorville.

He was born on February 1, 1929 at Taylorville the son of Joseph and Susan (DePolo) Podeschi. He married Maxine Copple on May 1, 1949 at St. Mary's Church in Taylorville; she preceded him in death on April 21, 2010. He was also preceded in death by his parents; Brother, Raymond Podeschi; Sister in law, Della Podeschi.

Joseph began his career in 1957 as a route driver for Pepsi Cola Bottling Company in Springfield and retired in 1984 as Vice President and General Manager. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylorville, Knights of Columbus and a social member of Kincaid American Legion Post.

Survivors: Daughters, Linda (husband, Jim-Fish) Richbark and Joyce (husband, Bob) Zaffiri both of Springfield, IL; Son, Jordan (wife, Sheryl) Podeschi of Taylorville, IL; Grandchildren, Angie (John) Bright, Jolene Bozarth, Brianne Hughes, Lynn (Brook) Trees, Michelle (Harley) Sharp, Jim Richbark and Mario Podeschi; Great Grandchildren, Breanna (Tyler) Lowery, Audrey (Matthew) Anderson, Mitch Trees, Mackenzie Trees, Claire Trees, Kalli Sharp, Harley Sharp, Haley Richbark, Emily Richbark, Henley Rose Barry, Joe Bright, Dylan Bozarth, Dalton Bozarth and Becca Canum; Great Great Grandchildren, Karsyn Maxine Lowery and Braeden Lowery; Brother, Mario Podeschi of Taylorville, IL; Sister, Jeanette (husband, Gene) Coady of Taylorville, IL; Sisters in law, Shirley Podeschi of Taylorville, IL and Norma Jean Coady of Tucson, AZ; Many Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 8, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylorville. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville. Visitation will be held on Monday from 9:00 AM until service time at the church.
