Manuel G. Roja

Manuel G. "Manny" Roja, 74 of Alton passed away at 12:35 AM on Sunday, January 1, 2017 at OSF St. Anthony's Health Center in Alton.

He was born on September 18, 1942 at Daet, Camarines Norte in the Philippines the son of Felicisimo and Constancia (Fuentebella) Roja. He married Darlene Clara (Uhas) McClaine on January 6, 1967 at Edwardsville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sister, Loreto and a Brother, Socrates.

Manny worked at Shell Oil Company in Wood River as a Lab Technician, retiring after many years of service. After retirement, he was a greeter at Walmart in Wood River. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton and the former St. Kevin's Catholic Church in East Alton. Many loved spending time with his family and was always ready to help others.

Survivors: Wife, Darlene C. (McClaine) Roja of Bethalto, IL; Daughter, Darlynn (husband, Nate) Hopper of Bethalto, IL; Son, Carl (wife, Elizabeth) McClaine of Redlands, CA; Grandchildren, Randy (Diana) Hopper, Holly (Ben) Hugghins, Joy (Rob) Cushman, Sarah (Chris) Pearson, Aaron McClaine and Andrea (Matthew) Harris; Great grandchildren, Jadyn, Malia, Tate, Mary Allison, Kenneth, David and Quorra Rose; Sister, Azon Casuela of the Philippines; Nieces and Nephews, Percho, Minchotte, Minchy, Dottie and Mike.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Perfetti Funeral Home in Sorento. Inurnment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Sorento at a later date.
