E. Geraldine Sparks

E. Geraldine "Geri" Sparks, 91 of Taylorville passed away at 8:20 PM on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

She was born on January 10, 1924 at West Frankfort, IL the daughter of James and Hettie Jane (Smith) Gilmartin. She married Daniel E. Sparks on August 12, 1942 at St. Charles, MO; he preceded her in death on April 22, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her parents; Granddaughter, Jennifer Jacobs; Brother and sister in law, Leo and Marcella Gilmartin; Sister, Lorraine Trimble.

Geri was a homemaker. She was a member of Eagles Aerie 1425, American Legion Post 73 Auxiliary, VFW Post 4495 Auxiliary and Moose Lodge 1516. She enjoyed dancing and garage sales.

Survivors: Son, Daniel L. (wife, Gloria) Sparks of Taylorville, IL; Daughters, Sharon (husband, Leonard) Bernstein and Linda Sparks both of Aurora, CO; 7 Grandchildren; 7 Great Grandchildren; Many Nieces and Nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 20, 2015 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville with Rev. John Kieschnick officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home in Taylorville is in charge of arrangements.
