Sharon Kay Pierce

Sharon Kay Pierce, 78, of Taylorville passed away at 9:10 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 2020 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.
Sharon was born April 28, 1941 in Taylorville, the daughter of Herschel and Rose (Maquet) Schroyer. She graduated from Stonington High School in 1959, and went on to work for Illinois Consolidated as an operator. Sharon left Consolidated to stay home and raise her kids, and later went back to work for Sangamon Paper Company where she eventually retired.
Sharon was a devout member of Davis Memorial Christian Church, always volunteering to help with anything the church needed. She also volunteered her time as a Girl Scout troop leader, and for Kid’s Club. Sharon enjoyed reading, baking, traveling anywhere with a beach, and spoiling her grandchildren as much as possible.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Ronald W. Schroyer.
Sharon is survived by her daughters, Lisa (husband, Gabe) Corey of Des Plaines, and Loretta (husband, Miguel) Bonilla of Statesville, NC; grandchildren, Gabriel (wife, Elisabeth), Alexander (fiancée, Kinga Purta), George, Woodrow, Alecia, Samuel, and Louis Corey; brother, Roger (wife, Linda) Schroyer of Taylorville; sister-in-law, Dorris Schroyer of Taylorville; nephew, Steven Shroyer; and nieces, Stephanie Stivers and Sarah Heberling.
Cremation will be provided prior ceremonies.
Visitation & Memorial Ceremony: The family will receive guests from 10:00 a.m. until the time of ceremony at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Shafer-Perfetti & Assalley Funeral Home, 202 W. Franklin St., Taylorville, IL 62568, with Pastor Bill Kerns officiating.
Inurnment will be held at a later date, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.
