Joe L. Dozier, 56, of Taylorville, passed away at 7:22 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2020 at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, IL.

Joe was born March 2, 1963 in Taylorville, the son of Bernard and Ruth (Guthrie) Dozier.  He married Dorinda J. Hall on May 18, 2001 in South Carolina.

Joe graduated from Morrisonville High School, and went on receive certifications as a diesel mechanic and electrician.  He was currently employed by Fitzgerald, where he was a forklift technician and mechanic.  Joe loved camping, fishing, wood working, and listening to the blues.  In his younger years, he loved to ride his Harley Davidson.

Joe is survived by his wife, Dorinda J. Dozier of Taylorville; daughter, Jinnie (fiancé, Joseph Wietekamp) Ethridge of Taylorville; son, Travis Ethridge of Taylorville; grandchildren, Dakota Hudson and Ryann Ethridge, both of Taylorville; mother, Ruth Dozier of Springfield; father, Bernard (wife, Thelma) Dozier of Springfield; brother, Jason (wife, Barb) Dozier of Chatham; niece, Elsie Dozier of Chatham; uncle, Duane Dozier of Taylorville; and several cousins.

Graveside Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville with Rev. Chad Foster officiating.  A celebration of Joe's life and luncheon will be held at a later date.

  4. I absolutely love Joe and Dorinda. My earliest camping memory started with them. Sleeping in a hot nylon tent with Jinnie covered in poison ivy!  They welcomed me as part of their family with open arms and hearts. God give you all peace now when you need it most. I love you so much and will pray for your hearts to be lifted.

    It sure was a joy to know & interact with Joe… not to say he was a good fork truck mechanic & will be missed greatly.  May you rest in peace
