Gordon "Hoss" Lee McKinney

Gordon “Hoss” Lee McKinney, 55, of Taylorville, formerly of Lovington, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital in Panama City, FL.
Hoss was born February 6, 1965 in Decatur, the son of Lawrence and Patricia (Crowder) McKinney. He married Sherri Herpstreith on February 21, 1992 in Las Vegas, NV.
Hoss graduated from Lovington High School in 1983, and he was currently employed as a Retail Construction Superintendent.
He was preceded in death by his father; maternal and paternal grandparents; and his faithful dachshund, Woody.
Hoss is survived by his wife, Sherri McKinney of Taylorville; daughter, Cortney (husband, Will Sommer) McKinney of McKinney, TX; son, Chance McKinney of Taylorville; beloved canine companion, Rupert; mother and step-father, Pat and Joe DiYorio of Lovington; siblings, Anna (husband, Donald) Baxter of Bethany, Pamela (husband, Tim) Barker of Bethany, Laura (husband, James) Reed of Sullivan, Mary (husband, Edward) Rubush of Sullivan, Rev. Novella Parke of Nipomo, CA, Daniel (wife, Teresa) McKinney of Charleston, and Joshua (wife, Tara) McKinney of Allenville; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many close friends, both locally and across the country.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 1, 2020 at Shafer-Perfetti & Assalley Funeral Home in Taylorville. In keeping with CDC guidelines, only 50 guests at a time will be allowed to visit in the funeral home, and the wearing of masks is suggested.
A private memorial ceremony for family and close friends will be held with Rev. Novella Parke officiating.
