Fern A. Alexander

Fern A. Alexander, 88, of Virginia, IL, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at 6:45 a.m. at Walker Nursing Home in Virginia.

She was born on September 5, 1925 at Bolivia, the daughter of Harvey and Lucy Mae (Patterson) Stephens. Fern worked as a waitress most of her life and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include daughters, Thelma (husband, Roland) Richard of Chandlerville, IL and Janet Tarrant of Springfield, IL; seven  grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, and four sisters.

Private family services will be held. Burial will follow at Fraley Cemetery at Taylorville.

Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home in Taylorville is in charge of arrangements.
