March 2, 1961 ~ March 11, 2021

Anthony Joel Berkman, 60, of Sorento, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at his residence.

Tony was born March 2, 1961 in Belleville, the son of Freddie D. and Shirley K. (Eaves) Berkman, Sr.  He worked his entire life as a self-employed mechanic.  Tony loved taking things apart, and putting them back together, especially motors.  He loved four wheeling and riding his motorcycles as fast as possible.  Tony was also prankster with a great sense of humor.  He loved waking his children up with a Super Soaker shower, and if a food fight broke out, Tony was probably behind it.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandchildren, Kylie and Shaun; and brother, Freddie D. Berkman, Jr.

Tony is survived by his children, Angela Sanchez, Natalie Merritt, and Anthony Knight, all of California, and Kristi Branscum and Kadi Weaver, both of Poplar Bluff, MO; several grandchildren; brothers, Tim (wife, Leslie) Berkman of Worden, Greg Berkman of Greenville, and Roger (wife, Angie) Berkman of Staunton; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation: The family will receive guests from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home, 201 S. Main Street, Sorento, IL 62086.
