Carl Robert 'Bob' Lindberg

Carl Robert ‘Bob’ Lindberg, 79, of Greenville, passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2022, at his home.
Bob was born July 4, 1942, in Palatine, IL the son of Carl A. and Alma (Kinsey) Lindberg. He obtained his MBA from DePaul University, Chicago, IL. Since 1987, he has worked for Fayco Enterprises, in Vandalia, as their Executive Director and has given a lifetime of service to the field of vocational rehabilitation.
On August 15, 1964, Bob married Colleen S. Attig, the love of his life, in Bartlett, IL. They were married for 57 wonderful years and spent 35 of those years in Greenville. He was a devoted family man who loved to fix things, make wine, and spend time outdoors fishing and enjoying time in the beautiful timbers of Wisconsin. As noted accomplishments, he helped to get several national bills passed that made accessibility ramps mandatory in the United States, he was presented with the Abe Award, in 2013, by the Vandalia Chamber of Commerce for outstanding community service, and was a Son of the American Revolution.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Evelyn Sawallisch.
Bob is survived by his wife, Colleen of Greenville, children: Sara J. (Jeffrey) Lauer of Roanoke, IN and Keith Robert (Kristy) Lindberg of Edwardsville, IL; sister, Lois Armour of Mt. Prospect, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at the Assalley-Young Funeral Home, 118 E. College Ave., Greenville, IL 62246
Funeral Ceremony: 11:00 am. On Thursday, January 13, 2022, at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 512 S. Prairie St., Greenville, IL 62246, with Father Jeffery Stone, Officiating.
Interment will follow the ceremony at St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery, Greenville.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, may be made to The St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
The family has entrusted Assalley-Young Funeral Home in Greenville with Ceremonies.

Our deepest condolences to Colleen and all family and friends. Bob was a wonderful man and example to others. He will be missed. We planted a tree in his memory. God Bless you all as you grieve his loss.
Bob occasionally attended the St. Louis Friends Meeting (Quaker). I remember his lively sense of humor and his gentle, kind spirit. He was always friendly and interesting.

I remember and knew Bob for many years, through St. Religious Society of Friends and a small investment group known as Friendly Investors… The last time we talked, was on the phone in late summer 2021, when I shared this conservation with my wife, she said “There is a man who really loved his wife.” and indeed in just about ever conservation he said something about how much he loved her. Bob was always kind, thoughtful, and knowledgeable. I am a better person for having spent time with Bob. Bless you Bob.
