Arnold M. McGill

Arnold M. McGill, 79, of Panama, IL passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2005 at 4:00 AM at Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton, GA.

He was born on January 4, 1926 in Panama the son of Arnold and Alice Ruth (Wall) McGill. He married Janet Starcher on December 5, 1953 in Greenville, IL; she preceded him in death on December 9, 1991. Also preceding him in death were his parents; Brothers, Burl and Gerald Willman; Sister Arvada Hanus.

Mr. McGill worked as a welder at A.O. Smith for 21 years and was Assessor for Montgomery County for 16 years. He was a member of Panama VFW Post 6628, Mayor of Panama for 2 terms and a Veteran of the Army during the Korean War.

Survivors: Daughters, Ruth (Robert) Rhodes of Resaca, GA and Terra (Dennis) Sexton of Litchfield, IL; 4 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren; Brothers, Robert McGill of Taylor Springs, IL, Ralph McGill of Fenton, MO, Darrell McGill of Panama, IL, Allen McGill of Donnellson, IL and John McGill of Greenville, IL; Sisters, Betty Malisia and Burnetta Redfearn both of Panama, IL; Several Nieces and Nephews.

Private family services were held Saturday, with Rev, Dave Trover officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery, Panama. In memory of Arnold McGill memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Society or American Kidney
