Steve Frank Simunich, 75, of Sorento passed away Sunday, October 30, 2005 at 2:34 A.M. at his home.

He was born December 12, 1929 in East St. Louis, IL the son of James V. and Bessie F. (Suchy) Simunich. He married Mary J. Fly on November 24, 1972 at Natural Bridge Baptist Church in St. Louis, MO. Preceding him in death were his parents; Brother, Joseph V. Simunich; Stepson, Robbie Shea; 1 Niece.

Mr. Simunich was a First Class Petty Officer with the US Navy working on submarines and retiring with 20 years of active service and 10 years of retainer service. After leaving the Navy he worked for Monsanto and retired from there in 1985. He was a member of the Donnellson Baptist Church, the Sorento Coon Hunters Club and was a Mason.

Survivors: Wife, Mary J. Simunich of Sorento, IL; Brothers, Daniel J. Simunich of Smithton, IL and Melton E. Simunich of St. Louis, IL; Sister Helen (husband, George) Vranich of Tampa, FL; Many Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.

Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, November 2 at the Perfetti Funeral Home in Sorento. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 3 at 11:00 AM at Perfetti Funeral Home in Sorento, with Rev. Gary Shaw and Richard Fones officiating. Burial will follow in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights. Military honors will be conducted at the grave.
