Mary Jane Woodard, 79, of Morrisonville, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday July 14th, 2022 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
Janie was born on October 2, 1942, in East St. Louis, to George D. and Devonna Marie (Emmons) Davis.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry of Morrisonville; sons, Steve Shinneman of Morrisonville, and Brian Shinneman of Taylorville; siblings, Gloria Romine of Arizona, Bonnie (husband, Jerry) Ross of Nokomis, Jerry Davis of Nokomis, Mary Davis of Langleyville, and Sarah Hayes of Oregon; grandchildren, Christopher Shinneman of Taylorville, Joseph Shinneman of Taylorville, and Michael Shinneman of Pontoon Beach; 6 great grandchildren; step-mother, Edith Petska of Nokomis; nephew, Darcy Metcalf and many more nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and son, Michael Shinneman. Siblings Charles Davis, Junior Ewing Davis, George Davis and Verne “Tom” Davis, sister Lela May Metcalf Williamson.
Janie graduated from high school in Herrick. She worked for many years as a hairdresser, operating her own salon in Bement. She enjoyed crocheting, and spending time with her family. Janie will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at Shafer-Perfetti & Assalley Funeral Home, 202 W. Franklin Street, Taylorville, IL 62568.
