Dorothy L. Berry

Dorothy L. Berry, 81, of Taylorville died Wednesday, January 25, 2006 at 7:00 A.M. at Pleasant Hill Healthcare Center, Girard. She was born on March 27, 1924 to Lula (Hill) and Myrval Gardner.

She married William Eugene “Gene” Berry on October 13, 1946. He preceded her in death on December 14, 1989.

She was a teacher at Stonington Elementary for 21 years. She was a member of the Illinois Retired Teacher Association and Delta Delta Delta Sorority at Millikin University. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Taylorville.

Surviving are her son: Glen and wife Vickie Berry of Springfield; Granddaughter Kristin Berry of Tower Hill; Sister: Carol Williams and husband William of Decatur, IL; several nieces and nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Richard E. “Dick” Berry, and brother Richard “Rich” Gardner.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2006 at First Presbyterian Church, Taylorville at 10:00 A.M. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer Association or American Cancer Breast Cancer Research.
