Blanche L. Kearney

Blanche L. Kearney, 82, of Taylorville died at 12:05 a.m. Wednesday, August 30, 2006 in St. Vincent Memorial Hospital.

She was born February 22, 1924, in Stonington, the daughter of Charles and Grace M. (Tyler) Shanks. She married Robert K. Kearney on September 28, 1942, in St. Louis, MO. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Taylorville.

Surviving are her son, Robert Lee (wife Rosemary) Kearney of Taylorville: daughter-in-law, Ramona Sedlacek of Taylorville; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and sister, Betty Jordan (husband Marvin) of Moweaqua. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Joseph Sedlacek, Jr.; grandsons: Kevin Kearney and Ronald Sedlacek; brothers: Joe Shanks and Leslie Shanks; and sisters: Eunice Sims, Shirley Blaine, Cecelia Eggerman and Beulah Shanks.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 2, in Shafer Funeral Home, with Rev. Gerald McPhillips officiating. Burial will be in Ponting Cemetery, Stonington.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 1, in the funeral home.
