Hazel I. Stuart

Hazel I. Stuart, 87, of Taylorville died at 9:21 p.m. Saturday, September 2, 2006, in St. Vincent Memorial Hospital.

She was born May 7, 1919, in Christian County, the daughter of Charles S. and Margaret (Lawyer) Disney. She married Edwin Dean McVey on March 25, 1939, in St. Louis, MO. He died in 1980. She retired as a cook at St. Vincent Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Taylorville.

Surviving are her daughters: Audrey Jay of Milmine and Hazel J. Nichols of Springfield; son, William D. McVey of Glendale, AZ; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Charles Disney of Stonington. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 7, in Shafer Funeral Home, with Rev. Steve Disney officiating. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 6, in the funeral home.
