Donald Lee White

Donald Lee White, 68, of Sorento, Illinois, passed away at his home, on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at 10:20 am.

Don was born on May 19, 1956, in Hillsboro, Illinois, the son of Donald Lee (Bud) and Judy (Martincic) White. He was married to Lynn (Honeybee) Blakely and Mary (Perkins) (Wilson) White.

He was a personable guy, enjoyed talking to people, and had a nickname for everyone. He was very straight forward and considered himself ‘just an old country boy.’ He was a handy man who could fix anything with duct tape, enjoyed tinkering on his hot rod cars, which he ‘wheeled and dealed’ buying and selling those cars for fun and profit. He just enjoyed driving them anywhere and everywhere. Mostly, he enjoyed cheering on his grandkids.

For most of his adult life he drove a truck. He worked and ran the White Trucking business with his father for over 30 years, in Commerce City. From there, he went to Nobleman Trucking which he worked and owned, with his brother Allen. Lastly, he hauled mail for Eagle Trucking, prior to retiring.

Preceding him in death are his parents; wife, Mary White; and son-in-law, Earl Vollintine.

Surviving Don are his children, Marcella (Marcie) Vollintine of Donnellson, Illinois and Larry Barnes of Greenville, Illinois; daughter in law, Brandie Barnes; grandchildren, Wesley Barnes, Baylee Barnes, Samanntha Vollintine, Morgan Vollintine; siblings, Vernon (Bobbi) White, Gary White, JR White, Charles White, Connie Jaques, DD Hinchman, all of Colorado, Shelia Hanson of Arizona; stepsiblings, Carla Platkus and Allen Wabbs, both of Colorado, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm., Monday, April 7, 2025, at Assalley Funeral Home, 118 E. College Ave., Greenville, IL 62246.

Funeral: 11:00 am., Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Assalley Funeral Home, 118 E. College Ave., Greenville, IL 62246, with Katie Fromm officiating.

Burial: Sunnyside Cemetery, Sorento, following the funeral.

A meal will be held at Sorento Community Center, following the burial.
