 Delores M. (Royer) Burdick, 89, of Breese, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, Illinois.

Delores was born May 19, 1935, on the family farm in Millersburg, Illinois, the daughter of Amuel M. and Hattie Frances (Ellsworth) Royer.

She married Verl Traub on August 7, 1954, in Old Ripley, Illinois. They later divorced. On July 15, 1978, she married Philip Burdick in Carbondale, Illinois. He preceded her in death on March 30, 2016.

She attended one year of Greenville High School and then transferred to Alton High School, where she graduated. She received her bachelor’s degree in sociology from SIU-E.

After College, she worked at the social security department. She then quit her job to take care of her husband and children. After the children were grown, she worked various jobs.

She was outgoing, friendly, and enjoyed being around people, especially her family and friends. Church was a big part of her life, and she was a member of the Greenville Free Methodist Church. She enjoyed painting with oils and being a tidy housekeeper.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Philip; her Royer brothers, Harold, Dillard, Lester, Earl, Darrell, Eldon, and Luther; her sisters, Opal Eskra, Evelyn Pruitt, Thelma Miller, and Ruby Creed.

She is survived by her sons, Melvin (Marilyn) Traub of Breese, Illinois and Larry Traub of Old Ripley, Illinois; her grandchildren, Jami (Tom) Rose of Hartford, Illinois, Amanda (Brad) Anderson of Glen Carbon, Illinois, Christina Oller of Collinsville, Illinois, Tomi Paige Traub of Old Ripley, Illinois; great-grandchildren, Marrisa Morrison of Norwich, Connecticut  and Lindzey Morrison of Hartford, Illinois; and siblings, Amuel (Sandy) Royer of Greenville, Illinois, Norman Royer of Harristown, Illinois, and Donald Royer of Las Vegas, Nevada.

A graveside ceremony will be held at Campground Cemetery, at a future date.

Memorial contributions may be mailed to the Salvation Army of Bond County, c/o Bradford Bank, 100 E. College Ave., Greenville, IL 62246.

The family asks that donations to the Salvation Army of Bond County be made in lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts.

The family has entrusted Assalley Funeral Home in Greenville with the ceremonies.
