Jeannine Dugan Stoffel, age 95, of Greenville, Illinois, passed away in HSHS Holy Family Hospital, Greenville, Illinois, holding hands with beloved family members.
Jeannine was born December 5, 1929, the daughter of Ernie and Oral (Miles) Mayfield. She grew up in Mulberry Grove where the streets of the small town were her playground. She attended the local schools, graduated from Mulberry Grove High School in 1947, and was also a member of the Mulberry Grove Baptist Church.
On June 14, 1947, she and Dean Dugan were married in Pocahontas Arkansas. They had 4 children: Deanna, Renee, Steven, and Erin. In 1990, after 43 years of marriage, Dean passed away.
Jeannine and Gene Stoffel were married on July 6, 1991, and they celebrated 30 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2021.
Jeannine was gifted with many talents. She played the piano by ear, from a very young age, as well as penning two beautiful hymns. She had a talent for drawing, painting, and had lovely handwriting. She was well known for her beautiful flower arrangements and being an avid Cardinal’s baseball fan. Her working career included clerking sales, clerical position at Southwestern Electric, and diamond sales at Famous-Barr. She and Dean developed Timber Trails Camp-In in Mulberry Grove and Jeannine managed it for 18 years and was named “Good Sam Campground Manager of the Year.”
Preceding her in death were her parents; spouses; sisters, Melba Runells and Vera Genell Locke; brother, Don Mayfield; son-in-law, David Blankenship; and grandson, John Reeves.
Surviving her are her children, Deanna (Ron) Reeves, Litchfield, IL; Renee Blankenship, Mulberry Grove, IL; Steven (Chris) Dugan, Highland, IL; Erin Dugan (Dean Hazard), Dauphin Island, AL; grandchildren, Steven Reeves, Laura Pusa, Doug Blankenship, Beth Greene, Megan Dugan, and Dean Dugan; great grandchildren, Jack, Annie, and Drew Pusa, Garrett, Caity and Allyse Blankenship, Maggie Workman, Sam Greene, and Max Dugan; great great grandchildren, Madelynn, Bennett, Amelia, Walker, and Isabelle; special niece, Ronnie Dilley; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation: 4:00 – 7:00 pm., Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Assalley Funeral Home, 118 E. College Ave., Greenville, IL 62246.
Funeral: 10:00 am., Thursday, August 14, 2025, at the Assalley Funeral Home.
Burial: McInturff Cemetery, following the funeral.
The family suggests that memorials may be gifted at the visitation and funeral or mailed to: McInturff Cemetery Mowing Fund, c/o 451 E 1550 Ave., Vandalia, IL 62471 and/or the First Baptist Church, PO Box 254, Mulberry Grove, IL 62262, in lieu of flowers, plants and other gifts.

I knew Jeanine from the Bank. She was totally one beautiful, talented, hardworking gal. There wasn’t much she couldn’t do. She had a great gift of gab with good words for everyone. She loved her family to the moon and back. She will be missed by many.
