HILLSBORO, ILL.

Diana Faye Sherwood, 60, passed away at 12:05 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, at Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylor Springs.

She was born on Nov. 24, 1953, in Carrollton, the daughter of Floyd and Thelma Shaw.

Diana was a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Ursuline Convent Infirmary in Alton for many years before her retirement. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hillsboro.

Survivors include her former husband and longtime companion, Melvin Hoxsey Sr. of Hillsboro, Ill.; sons, Mark (companion, Holly) Wagonblast of Alton, Orville (wife, Nancy) Sherwood Jr. of Brighton, and Melvin (wife, Leslie) Hoxsey Jr. of Hillsboro, Ill.; daughters, Cynthia Jackson of Pocahontas, Ill., Jennifer Sheldt of Alton, Mary Coch of Brownstown, Ill., Melanie (husband, John) Clements of Butler, Ill., Brenda (husband, Lindell) Duff of Ramsey, Ill. and Vicki Hefley of Florida; 28 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Butch Shaw of Bunker Hill; sisters, Patricia Driver of Hartford, and Teresa Smith of Vandalia, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Roger Price.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3, at First Baptist Church in Hillsboro, with Pastor Mike Skinner officiating. Burial will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery in Sorento.
