Garlon “Red” Manning Jr., 78, of Panama passed away Saturday, April 23, 2005 at 2:35 PM at Hillsboro Area Hospital.
He was born on June 27, 1926 in Panama the son of Garlon “Buddy” and Grace F. (Segrest) Manning Sr. He married Virginia Probla on February 10, 1951 in Coffeen, she preceded him in death on November 20, 2003.
Mr. Manning worked for Cassens for 36 years, 5 of those years were spent driving a transport truck. He was a veteran of the Army serving with the 102nd Infantry during World War II.
Survivors: Son, William “Bill” (wife, Jeanette) Manning of Sorento, IL; 2 Grandchildren, Robert (wife, Tamara) Manning of Sorento, IL and Stephanie (husband, Kevin) Wernle of Greenville, IL; 2 Great Grandchildren, Corey and Ashley Manning; 2 Nieces and 1 Nephew.
Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, April 27 at Perfetti Funeral Home in Panama. Funeral Services will be held at 11 :00 AM on Thursday, April 28 at Perfetti Funeral Home in Panama, with Father Carl Schmidt officiating.
Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Panama. Graveside military honors will be conduct by the Bond County Memorial VFW Post 1377 of Greenville.
In memory of Garlon “Red” Manning Jr. memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Panama United Methodist Church or Union Cemetery.
