Gary Lee Huff

Gary Lee Huff, 68, of Edwardsville, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at the Evercare of Edwardsville, Illinois.

Gary was born March 6, 1957, in Highland, Illinois, the son of Herbert Lee and Joyce Evelyn (Longwell) Huff.

He was bullheaded, unbending, and strong in his beliefs and opinions, as most of his family and friends would tell you, but they also knew him to be loving towards his family, enjoyed the family get-togethers, and had a huge love for animals, especially his dogs. His dogs were his ‘children,’ and they would often accompany him on his over the road hauls as a truck driver.

After being honorably discharged from the United States Navy, he worked at Graham Prison in Hillsboro, Illinois and then as a truck driver for over 30 years, from which he retired.

He enjoyed riding his Goldwing motorcycle and often went on trips to Canada with his buddies and rode poker runs.

Preceding him in death are his father and many aunts and uncles.

Surviving Gary are his mother, Joyce Schaefer of Greenville, Illinois; sisters, Vickie (Jesse) File of Greenville, Illinois, Sheila (Patrick) Pitschner of Bowling Green, Missouri, Melissa (Jason) Lato of Union, Missouri; and many extended family and friends.

Graveside Service: 11:00 am., Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Greenville, Illinois, with the Rev. Dee Armes officiating.

The family asks that donations be given to the Bond County Humane Society in lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts.

The family has entrusted Assalley-Young Funeral Home in Greenville with the ceremonies.
