Lindell D. Knop, 69, of Hillsboro, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2023, in Hillsboro, IL.
Lin was born January 6, 1953, in Murphysboro, Illinois to Charles Albert and Oleta Roberta (Griffin) Knop. He married Jacqueline Unterbrink in Hillsboro, in November of 1984. They were happily married for 38 years.
After graduating Staunton High school, Lin entered the National Guard and was honorably discharged. As a young man he worked for various automotive businesses and the phone company as a repair man. He then worked at Graham Correctional Facility in Hillsboro, IL. Upon where he met his future wife and retiring after many years of service. Generous, sincere, confident, enthusiastic, and fun loving are how most people will remember Lin. He was an active member of his church. He was an avid, some say, fanatic, collector of all things Disney. He enjoyed all things history, especially the Civil War and going to the war sites. His most treasured times were spent with family and especially his grandchildren, who had him wrapped around their little fingers.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Greg Knop.
Those left to cherish Lin’s memory are his wife, Jacqueline Knop of Hillsboro, IL; his children, Richard (Heather) Knop of Litchfield, IL, Ryan (Kyra) Knop of Hillsboro, IL, Heather Knop of Shiloh, IL, Gwen Heuck of Pekin, IL, and two grandchildren, Scott Knop and Katie Knop, both of Hillsboro.
Lin will be cremated per the family’s wishes and buried in German Cemetery near Greenville Ill, at a later date.
