Sandra Sue Fassero

Sandra Sue Fassero, 82, of Taylorville, passed away at 7:29 p.m. on Monday, April 27, 2020 at Taylorville Care Center.
Sandy was born March 3, 1938 in Taylorville, the daughter of Jack and Geraldine (Fuller) Peters. She married Donald “Nick” Fassero on December 15, 1956 in Taylorville. He preceded her in death on November 23, 1987.
Sandy graduated from Taylorville High School in 1956. While in high school, she worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Ferry. Sandy was a homemaker while raising her children, but later in life worked for the Hallmark Gift Shop and Annie’s at the Hickory Point Mall, as well as for Baskin Robbins as a cake decorator. She was a long-time member of the Taylorville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, where she chaired the Christmas Bazaar for many years. Sandy enjoyed gardening and spending time outdoors, but she loved her time spent with grandchildren and great grandchildren, especially attending their sporting events.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Ryan Fassero; step-father, Frank Sockel; and brother, Steve Sockel.
Sandy is survived by her daughter, Leslie Staake of Taylorville; son, Mike (wife, Ronda) Fassero of Taylorville; grandchildren, Darrick (wife, Bonnie) Fleming of Taylorville, Mindy (husband, David) Hill of Taylorville, Colene (husband, Justin) German of Nokomis, and Allyson (husband, Todd) Diebold of Rochester; great grandchildren, Mazie and Lane Fleming, Payton Hill, Ryan and Emmy German, Eva and C.J. Hennings, and Maddy, Payton, and Amelie Diebold; siblings, Gary (wife, Janet) Sockel of Omaha, NE, Mark Stockel of Taylorville, and Nancy (husband, Duane) Meester of Omaha, NE; and several nieces and nephews.
Private family ceremonies will be held, followed by interment at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Taylorville.

Leslie I am so sorry to hear about your mom! I don’t get the paper, but sometimes I look on the internet! I just found out! Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family! May she RIP!
