Tanner James Mitchell, 23, of Taylorville, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 22, 2021, as the result of an automobile accident.

Tanner, known as TMitch by his friends and family, was born July 23, 1997 in Taylorville, the son of Shawn and Connie (Ackerson) Mitchell.  He was a 2016 graduate of Taylorville High School, where he was a standout in football and FFA.  While in school, Tanner worked for Curtin Land & Cattle, and later Franklin Construction.  Currently he worked as a commercial electrician, and was a member of the IBEW Local 146 in Decatur.  Tanner was also working part-time, as security, for The Funky Monkey and South Fork Dirt Riders.  He lived life to the fullest.  Tanner loved boating with his friends and family, riding dirt bikes, fishing, and he was especially proud of the recent renovation of his home.

He is survived by his parents, Shawn and Connie Mitchell of Taylorville; sisters, Nicole (husband, Eric) Hartley of Woodstock, GA, and Shannon (husband, Trent) Culberson of Taylorville; nieces, Hayden, Avery, Paisley, and another on the way; maternal grandparents, Barb and Jim Ackerson of Stanford; paternal grandparents, Donna (husband, Mike) Snyder of Arcadia, FL, and Richard (wife, Margaret) Mitchell of Newton; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Visitation: The family will receive guests from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Shafer-Perfetti & Assalley Funeral Home, 202 W. Franklin Street, Taylorville, IL 62568.  A private funeral ceremony will be held with Lori Smothers, officiating. Friends are invited to the burial ceremony at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville at 12:15 p.m. on Friday, January 29, 2021.
