Virginia Louise (Wassur) Cahoon was born on December 11, 1930, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the daughter of Frank and Opal Mae (Rapp) Wassur. She married John C. Cahoon in Elko, Nevada on January 22, 1972. They were happily married for over 42 years and in October 2014, he preceded her in death.
Virginia worked at First Security Bank in Boise, Idaho for many years, then moved to their forever home in Highland, Illinois, with John, where she worked for Caldwell Banker as a realtor.
During her life with John, they raised four children, Christopher, James, Joseph, and Jackie. They also raised German Shepherds and Virginia had several cats she doted on.
When they moved to Highland, Virginia continued to rescue local cats to make sure they had a good home.
During her childhood, Virginia traveled the United States, spending time in Oregon as well as time in Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, and her husband.
Surviving Virginia are her children, Christopher Cahoon of Emmett, Idaho, James (Lynn) Cahoon of Del Rio, Tennessee, Joseph Cahoon of Highland, Illinois, and Jackie Sanders of Emmett, Idaho, as well as many grandchildren. Additionally, she has a sister, Becky Dixon of Conway, AR and several nieces and nephews are still living.
The graveside service and burial will take place at 10 am, Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Sunnyside Cemetery, Sorento, Illinois.
