Doris Elaine Hinch

Doris Elaine Hinch, of Greenville, Illinois, passed away at home, on June 2, 2026, at the age of 93.

Doris was born on a farm in Mulberry Grove on August 16,1932 to Ralph and Marie (Nesbit) Perkins. Upon high school graduation, she was employed at DeMoulin Bros. and Co. in Greenville as a bookkeeper, a position she enjoyed until 1961. She met her husband, Roy F. Hinch (deceased in 2007), and they were married on January 25, 1952. He was drafted into the army and served for 19 months in Germany while Doris continued to work in Greenville.

They started their family in 1955 and became lifelong members of First Christian Church in Greenville where Doris served in the nursery department and was active in the church throughout her life.

Doris loved being outdoors and enjoyed flowers and birds, but definitely NOT snakes. She also loved reading, following current events, and using her bookkeeping skills to partner with Roy in business. Together, they traveled to New Zealand, Costa Rica, Ireland, and much of the US during their 56-year marriage.

Her family, always her favorite focus, includes son Randy (Linda) Hinch, daughter Kim (Allan) File, and daughter Mary Jane (Jeff) Kane. She also has 8 grandchildren: Whitney, Philip, Haley, Anna, Evan, Jonathan, Connor and Ellen. They and 11 great grandchildren live in Illinois, Minnesota, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Wisconsin.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am., on June 11, 2026, at Smith Grove Cemetery.
