Barbara Ann Smith (née Borror), 71, of Greenville, Illinois, passed away on April 15th, 2026, at Prairie Cardiovascular Institute at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.

Barbara was born in Greenville to her parents, Perry Ward Borror and Rosemarie (Taylor) Borror, and was raised in the community she cherished and poured herself into throughout her life. She was a woman of deep faith whose love for God guided the way she lived—serving others, loving generously, and showing kindness to everyone she met.

Barbara was a creative spirit with many talents and passions. She was a gifted seamstress and the proud owner of Barbara’s Fabric Boutique, where she shared her love of sewing with others and helped bring their ideas to life. She had a deep love for music, dancing, gardening, and taking long walks with friends—carrying that joy and energy with her always.

She was well known for her cooking as co-owner of Chubby’s Restaurant, where her homemade meals—especially her chicken and dumplings and pies—became favorites in the community. Whether through food, conversation, or simply her presence, Barbara had a way of making people feel at home. Later in life she became a real estate broker and owner of Gold Realty, where she helped many families find their homes, and she managed multiple rental properties in town. In addition, Barbara served as Vice President and Secretary of her husband’s company, Aquaflo Technologies, Inc., where she played an important role in supporting the business.

Barbara’s impact on Greenville was far-reaching. She served as president of the Kingsbury Park District and led the local women’s club, where she helped bring beauty to the town by planting flowers throughout the community, adding color and joy for all who passed through. Her dedication to her community extended through her many roles, including volunteering at the local humane society, serving on the board of the Lakeview Homeowners Association, and acting as secretary of the Bluebird Society. No matter the role, Barbara gave her time and energy wholeheartedly.

Above all, Barbara will be remembered for her kindness, creativity, and the way she made everyone feel welcome.

She is survived by her loving husband, Bruce Smith; her children, Carrie Smith, Brad Smith and his wife Christie Smith, and Whitney DeBlois and her husband Travis DeBlois; her cherished grandchildren, Rylin, Kember, and Hallston DeBlois, Moriah and her fiancé, Justin Davis and Hailee Zbinden; her great-grandson, Brantley Davis; her siblings, Bruce Borror, and Sandra Borror and her husband David Baldt.

  1. Sad to see this. Many prayers for Bruce and family during this difficult time. Debby (Haberer) Williams

  2. Oh my gosh I am just so sad and shocked! I haven’t talked to Barb in such a long time but we have been friends since I moved to Greenville as a freshman in HS. She was always kind, accepting and A LOT OF FUN!
I remember when Carrie and Brad were little and I had Krissie and Kortney. Barb was growing and pureeing they’re baby food so it would be fresh, wholesome and uncontaminated. She tried to get me to do the same! 😳. She was a good momma from the beginning.

I know she will be missed by so many people. I’m so sorry for you kids, grands and Bruce. God Bless you All~ Deb (Bill) Whitlock

  3. Light a CandleA wonderful volunteer at our shelter and a compassionate friend; we appreciated each shift Barb was able to join us in caring for temporarily homeless cats and cleaning their rooms.
