Benjamin "Ben" J. Peat Jr.

Benjamin "Ben" Junior Peat Jr, 85, of Palmer, passed away Wednesday May 12, 2010 in Memorial Medical Center in Springfield at 7:10am.

He was born March 17, 1925 in Palmer, the son of Benjamin J Peat Sr and Ella F Parrish Peat. He married Catherine Irwin on September 24, 1948 in Pana. He was a lifetime Farmer. He was a veteran serving in the Marines. He was a member of the Palmer Advent Christian Church where he served and Elder for 40 years. He was a member of the Leslie Reddick American Legion Post 721.

He is survived by his wife: Catherine "Katie" Peat of Palmer, son: David (wife Nancy) Peat of PawPaw, IL, daughters: Linda (husband Mike) Sheedy of Morrisonville, Janet (husband Jim) Lane of Dade City, FL, 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son: Stephen Peat, daughter: Carol Ann Peat, 1 sister and 1 brother.

Funeral services will be held at Perfetti Funeral Home in Morrisonville on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 10:30am with Rev George Elder and Rev Tom Rutan officiating. Burial will be held in Morrisonville Cemetery in Morrisonville. Visitation will be held on Friday May 14, 2010 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm in Perfetti Funeral Home in Morrisonville.
