Betty J. Bentley

Betty J. Bentley, 80, of Taylorville, passed away at 2:00 A.M., Friday, June 15, 2007 at her residence. She was born July 9, 1926 in Stonington, Ill., the daughter of William and Fredericka Walker. She married John A. Bentley on June 12, 1952 in Rolla, Missouri. He preceded her in death June 7, 1975. 

Betty attended Memorial Hospital School of Nursing transferring and graduating from St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing, Spokane, Washington in 1948. She was a retired Registered Nurse who worked in Spokane, Washington, Chicago, Ill., and at St. Vincent Memorial Hospital. She worked at several Physician Offices including Drs. Schofield, Young, and Chang, retiring in 1981. She was a member of the Taylorville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. 

She is survived by her daughter, Janet Bentley, of Taylorville. Sister, Pauline Reid of Taylorville. Numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, brothers: Vic, Henry and Raymond Walker. Sisters: Darlene Griffin, Doris Rodden, Evelyn Champley, Lois Mills and June Zwick. 

Visitation will be on Monday, June 18, 2007 from 12:00noon - 2:00 P.M. Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.m. at Shafer Funeral Home, Taylorville. Burial will\ be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville, Ill.
