Betty J. Ward

Betty J. Ward, 85, of Hillsboro, passed away at 3:40 a.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at Montgomery Nursing and Rehab in Taylor Springs.

Betty was born May 17, 1935 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Henry and Pearl (Bearden) Haggard.  She married Dwayne Wilder, and he preceded her in death.

All who loved her, and knew her, called her “Black Betty”.  She loved bartending, laying out in the sun, playing with her cats, and spending as much time as possible with her family. 

She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Lora Kirk; brother, George Haggard; sisters, Lillian Ledbetter, twin, Bonnie Parker, Goldie Rice, Mary Stewart, and Ruth Gross.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Vicky (husband, Gary) Alexander of Greenville; sons, Larry (wife, Vicki) Ward of Florida, Bobby Ward of Staunton, Stevie Ward of St. Louis, MO, and Jerry Ward of St. Louis, MO; 7 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sister, Vicki Harper of St. Louis, MO; and several nieces and nephews .

Betty will be cremated, and no public ceremonies will be held.
