Beulah Irene Johnson, 86, of Taylorville, Illinois died Thursday, April 4th, 2024 at Taylorville Carriage Crossing.

Beulah was born November 1, 1937, in Pana, Illinois, the daughter of Thomas Franklin and Zola May (Bland) Barding. She worked as a telephone operator before marrying Richard Johnson on January 1, 1961. Beulah worked for many years at Frank’s Food Fair and then County Market.

Her world revolved around her family, and she loved spending time at home watching and feeding the birds, tending to her many flowers and plants, and decorating every room of her house for Christmas. She was a member of Taylorville First United Methodist Church.

Beulah is survived by her husband Richard of 63 years; four children, Jolynne (David) Richardson of Taylorville, Jeannine (John) Rude of Illiopolis, Richard E. Johnson of Greenwood, SC, and Louis (Tracie) Johnson of Taylorville; grandchildren, Megan Nauman, Amanda Richardson, Mallory Gordon, Rikki Johnson, and Hope, Luc, and Lea Johnson, Sarah Pritts and Molly Rude; great grandchildren, Alyssa, Zoey, Layla, Kolton, Maverick, Charlotte, and Camden, Marissa and Cassidy.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 5 siblings: Paul, Leroy, Kenneth, Margrette, and Doris.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, April 7th, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Fraley Cemetery in Taylorville officiated by Reverend Brennan Hurley.

Memorials may be made to the Taylorville First United Methodist Church or the Taylorville Food Pantry.
