Brad Apple, 68, of Keyesport, IL, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2023, at his home.

Brad was born December 22, 1954, in Highland, IL to Harold Duane and Maxine Mae (Elam) Apple. He married Kathryn Strasky on August 7, 1982, in Brookfield, IL. They were happily married for 40 years.

Brad attended Carlyle High School where he was an avid basketball player. After high school, he attended the School of Technical Careers at SIU Carbondale. During his college years is where he met the love of his life, Kathy. After college, he returned home to help his dad on the family farm, which he continued to operate throughout his life. Shortly after coming home, he became employed at Carlisle Syntec and retired there after 35 years.

Outside of work, Brad’s passions included serving on the Board of Trustees for the Keyesport Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He was also an avid trap shooter, and in recent years discovered his love for fabricating metal art. Brad had a love for classic cars, including his 1966 Pontiac GTO.

The love for his grandchildren was undeniable. Countless hours were spent riding in tractors, playing around the farm, and taking drives.

Brad was known for his quick wit, which he inherited from his father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a niece, Becky Lynn Gibson.

Surviving Brad are his wife, Kathy Apple of Keyesport, IL; children, Zack (Lindsey) Apple of Keyesport, IL and Leah (John) Tebbe of Highland, IL; grandchildren, Dalton Apple, Wyatt Apple, and Ellie Apple all of Keyesport, IL, Gavin Tebbe, Emmett Tebbe and Beckett Tebbe all of Highland, IL; sister, Beth (Bill) Gibson of Cumming, GA; niece, Barbara Koval of Marietta, GA; and his faithful dog, Rohan.

Visitation: 4:00 – 7:00 pm., Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at Assalley Funeral Home, 118 E. College Ave., Greenville, IL 62246.

Funeral: 11:00 am., Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at Assalley Funeral Home, with Pastor Glenn Kreider, officiating.

Burial: following the funeral service, at Duncan Cemetery, rural Keyesport, IL.

Memorials may be sent to Duncan Cemetery, c/o 148 Mulberry Grove Road, Keyesport, IL 62253 and/or Keyesport VFD, 901 Mulberry St., Keyesport, IL 62253. In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, please donate to either or both memorials as they both held a special place for Brad.

Later we both ended up working at Carlisle SynTec together. Brad had a personality that drew people in. Gone too soon and he will be greatly missed. May your memories give you comfort!
