Bruce Salmons

Bruce Salmons, 71, of Taylorville, Illinois died Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at his residence.

Bruce was born on February 15, 1953, in Taylorville, Illinois, the son of Paul Salmons and Lucille (Langlet) Salmons. Following his graduation from Taylorville High School in 1971, he joined the Navy where he served his country for four years. He married Jayandra Allen, and they later divorced.

He worked many years at FS in Taylorville before working for Christian County Developmental Corporation (CCDC) from where he recently retired. Bruce began working for Car Wash City in retirement.

Bruce’s favorite hobby was fishing with his family. He was a skilled handyman and helped his daughter with numerous home projects. Bruce had a lot of friends and was truly loved. He was calm and quiet but did not shy away from telling someone what he thought. He was always “there” for everyone, ready to help. He will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Gail Keen and Barbara Zemke.

Bruce is survived by his daughter, Monica Dempsey (Brian Greer) and his granddaughter, Kinley Grace Dempsey.

As per Bruce’s wishes, no services will be held.

The family has entrusted Shafer-Perfetti & Assalley Funeral Home in Taylorville with arrangements.
