Carl Hoffman

Carl Victor “Huff’ Hoffman, 81 of Sorento passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at 12:37 PM at his home.

He was born March 2, 1928 in Litchfield the son of William and Augusta (Schneckel) Huffman. He married Dorothy M. Cook on July 21, 1951 at Pocahontas, Ark. He was preceded in death by his parents, Brothers, Theo Bartels, Harry Bartels and Edward Bartels, Sister, Loutina Bartels, Great granddaughter, Kelsey Dieckow.

Carl was Warehouse Supervisor for Central Illinois Docking Company in Creve Coeur, IL, retiring in 1990. He had also worked for Hiram Walker in Peoria and was a member of the Coopers Union. Carl served with the Merchant Marines during World War II.

Survivors: Wife, Dorothy Hoffman of Sorento, IL; 3 Daughters, Frances (husband, David) Dieckow of Bartonville, IL, Audrey (husband, Stephen) Tharp of Marquette Heights, IL and Carlene (husband, George) Day of Sorento, IL; 6 grandchildren, Thomas Dieckow, Dale Dieckow, Angela Robison, Stephanie Gardner, Kevin Lanning and Victor Lanning; 10 great grandchildren, Dalton, Breana, Tyler, Jake, Kristina, Marie, Aaron, Kayla, Daniel and Brandon; Sister, Ida Holste of Effingham, IL; Many nieces and nephews; Special family friends, Sherry Kirgan, Sandra Bone, Denise Reed and Darla Garrett.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 19 from 11:00-1:00 PM at the Perfetti Funeral Home in Sorento. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with Revs. Nancy Ribes and Dave Trover officiating.

Burial will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery in Sorento.

Memorials are suggested to Bond County Hospice.
