C.P. Smith, 85, of Morrisonville died at 10:25 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at Taylorville Care Center.

Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, at Perfetti Funeral Home in Morrisonville. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Dayle Badman officiating.

Burial will follow in Morrisonville Cemetery with military honors conducted by Leslie Reddick American Legion Post 721.

Mr. Smith was born in Assumption Township on Dec. 11, 1927, the son of the late Carol P. and Mona (Morton) Smith. He married Maxine Rathgeber at the United Methodist Church in Morrisonville on June 17, 1951, and she survives in Morrisonville.

A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he served in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, retiring after 20 years of service. He returned to Morrisonville and owned and operated Smitty’s Television Repair from 1968-1996 before his retirement. He also served two terms on the Morrisonville School Board and worked the score keepers table at Morrisonville High School sporting events for many years.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Smith is survived by a son, Dan Smith of Morrisonville; two grandchildren, Trisha Smith (companion John Evans) of Morrisonville and Jeremy (wife Dawn) Smith of San Diego, CA; five great-grandchildren, Jacob and Rian Kerney and Mark, Naethan and Brienne Smith; four brothers, Larry (wife Jean) Smith of Conroe, TX, Bill (wife Joan) Smith of Wentzville, MO, Nyle (wife Phyllis) Smith of Fresno, CA, and Don Smith of San Marcos, TX; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Daryl A. Smith and Dennis L. Smith; and two brothers, John Smith and Edwin Smith.
