Carolyn E. (Skinner)Lofgren, 91, of St. Charles, IL, formerly of Greenville, IL, passed away on September 10, 2023, at her home, surrounded by loving family.

Carolyn was born October 18, 1931, in Highland, IL, the daughter of Lafe and Violet (Becker) Skinner, of Greenville, IL. She married Ronald ‘Sam’ Lofgren on September 29, 1956, in Greenville, IL, and they were married for over 66 blessed years.

She attended Greenville schools and Millikin University where she met her eventual spouse Ronald (Sam). After college, she was a teacher in Pocahontas, IL until she married Sam and moved to St. Louis and started their family. For Sam’s work, they moved several times living in Downers Grove, IL, Mankato, MN, Whitefish Bay, WI and Glen Ellyn, IL making many wonderful friends along the way. They eventually settled, after retirement, in St. Charles, IL.

Through the years, she enjoyed her many collections and antiquing. She especially loved traveling to many places, for many years, with her friend Eloise, while their husbands were hunting.

She loved being a mother and grandmother. She was always involved in her children’s activities – always the room parent, scout leader, and driver, to name a few, amongst the many. She happily attended as many of her grandchildren’s events as possible. She was very supportive of everything they did.

Carolyn was a very kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Surviving Carolyn are her children, Michael (Patti) Lofgren of Houston, TX and Lauri (Doug) James of Whitefish Bay, WI; grandchildren, Kevin James, Andrew James, and Grace James of Chicago, IL, Eric Lofgren of Mason, TX, Sean Lofgren of Austin, TX; great grandchild, Averie; and sisters-in-law, Patricia Lofgren of MacFarland, WI and Elizabeth Lofgren of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; cousins, Janice Becker, Sandy (Don) Stevens, and Cindy (Joe) Parsley.

  1. Michael & Lauri, I am Ronald’s (Sam) cousin. Your mother was always so nice to me and my wife Sharon. She always had a Christmas Card waiting for the both of us at Christmas time. She was such a loving person. Now she is with Ron. At the Carlson forgathers she was so attentive of Ron’s needs. She was such a beautiful person. You will be in my prayers and God Bless the both of you.

    Your Great Uncle

  2. Lauri and Mike
Your mom was such a lovely lady. I’m sure she appreciated all the support you and Lauri gave to both her and your dad.
Steve and I have wonderful memories of both of them. Especially watching our grandchildren in common in their many sporting and school activities.
    Steve and Joann
