Catherine Minnis

Jan. 23, 1917 – June 16, 2011

Catherine Minnis, 94, of Morrisonville passed away Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 12:30 p.m. at her home.

She was born January 23, 1917, at Jeiseyville, IL, the daughter of William and Margaret Gallagher McQuade. She married LaVore “Flint” Minnis on September 2, 1939 at St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Kincaid. He preceded her in death along with her parents; sisters: Anna Michaud, Lillian Schmelzer, Marlin Corso, Genevieve McQuade and Eileen Orlandi brother, William McQuade; and grandson, Joshua David Minnis.

Catherine was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Maurice Catholic Church, Altar and Rosary Society. She loved family gatherings and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also proud of her Irish heritage, her favorite quote was: “If you’re lucky enough to be Irish, you’re lucky enough.”

Survivors: Daughter, Maureen Dowdy of Morrisonville, IL; sons: Mark (wife, Yola) Minnis, Brian Minnis, Kurt (wife, Rhonda) Minnis and Raymond Minnis, all of Morrisonville, IL and Philip (wife, Linda) Minnis of Marion, IL; eight grandchildren: Tonia Minnis, Catherine (Jay) Fassero, Andrew (Hye Young) Minnis, Cary (Becky) Minnis, Corey (Lacey) Minnis, Shane (Robin) Austin, lan Dowdy and Sean Dowdy; five great-grandchildren: Kendra Johnston, Tyler Austin, Kara Austin, Reagan Fassero and Matthew Minnis; and sister, Rita Tomko of Springfield, IL.

Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, June 18 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Maurice Catholic Church in Morrisonville with Father Gerald Bunse officiating. Burial will follow at St. Maurice Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.
