Charles G. Burke

Charles G. Burke, 83, of Taylorville died at 12:32 p.m. Monday, January 5, 2004, at St. Vincent Memorial Hospital in Taylorville.

He was born April 29, 1920, in Kincaid, the son of Mike and Alice Manuel Burke. He married Jean Stephenson. She preceded him in death. He owned Lake Club Tavern for 25 years and retired from Illinois Secretary of State as a guard. He was a member of Eagles and American Legion.

Surviving are his son, Henry “Hank” Burke of Michigan, daughter, Toni Mahan of Taylorville; grandsons: William (D.J.) Mahan of Taylorville, Matt (wife Debbie) Workman of Highland, Ted Workman of Indiana; great-grandchildren; Megan Workman and Allison Workman; sister, Betty Borgognoni of Kincaid; brother, Robert Burke of Joliet; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sisters, and four brothers.
