Constance L. Owens

Constance Lee “Connie” Owens, 83 of Reno Passed away at 9:36 PM on Friday, August 12, 2016 at Highland Health Care Center in Highland.

She was born on October 16, 1932 at Rock Island the daughter of Elmer and Leona (Campbell) Nowack. She married Melvin Chester Owens Sr. on November 25, 1960 at Rock Island; he preceded her in death on January 9, 2014. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Donald Nowack.

Connie and her husband owned and operated Chester-Lee Stables in Milan for several years. She was editor of the Illinois Horse Network for 20 years and also gave horse riding lessons.

Survivors include: Daughters, Alice Rice of Rock Island, IL and Kathleen Young of Claremont, FL; Sons, Melvin C. Owens Jr. of Davenport, IA, Howard Haynes of Iowa, David Holt of Charlotte, IA and Chris Owens of Reno, IL; Many Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.

No funeral service will be held. A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Perfetti Funeral Home in Sorento. Respecting Connie’s wishes, cremation will follow the visitation.
