Darrell K. Rau, 61, of Panama, passed away at 1:56 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at his residence.

Darrell was born August 12, 1960 in Hillsboro, the son of Otto and Ruth M. (Miller) Rau.  He graduated from Hillsboro High School with the Class of 1978, and went on to study at Lewis & Clark Community College.  Darrell worked his entire career as a carpenter.  He was a member of the Carpenters Local 270 and the New Douglas Masonic Lodge #0560.

Darrell married Cathy L. Wells on October 9, 1997, and they enjoyed nearly 25 years of marriage.  He was an avid reader, and enjoyed playing golf, but his greatest joy in life was the time he spent with his grandson, Jesse.

Darrell is survived by his wife, Cathy L. Rau of Panama; son, Joe Zobrist of Panama; grandson, Jesse Zobrist of Panama; parents, Ruth and Otto Rau of Panama; brother, Rex (wife, Micki) Rau of Donnellson; aunt, Ruby Wallace of Sorento; uncle, Kenneth Rau of Warrenton, MO; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation & Memorial Ceremony: The family will receive guests from 10:00 a.m. until the time of ceremony at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home, 117 Walnut Street, Panama, IL 62077, with Rev. Frank Loskot, Jr. officiating.
