David E. Lynch, 70, of Sorento died Thursday, June 10, 2010 at 10:35 a.m. at Litchfield Healthcare.

Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 15 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton with Father Namdi Moneme, OMV, officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the Perfetti Funeral Home in Sorento and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until service time at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery at Sorento.

He was born July 14, 1939 at Alton, the son of George and Wanda (McGibany) Lynch. He married Kathryn "Kathy" Diane Smith on March 26, 1965 at Hamburg; she preceded him in death on March 9, 2007. He was also preceded in death by his parents; son, David Wayne Lynch; brother, George Lynch; and sister, Myrna Bach.

He worked at Owens Illinois Glass Company in Alton as a bottlemaker before his retirement. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton and the Bond County Republican Committee. He served on the Bond County 911 Board and Shoal Creek Fire Protection Board. He was also Bond County Coordinator for Congressman John Shimkus.

Survivors include two daughters, Davina (husband Darrell) Pagan and Suzette (husband Michael) Williams, both of Sorento; seven grandchildren, Tiffany Hawkins, Camra Lynch, Andrew Hawkins, David Lynch, James Lynch, Kasen Williams and Kathryn Williams; five great-grandchildren, Devon Hawkins, Dakota Cruthis, Alexis Lynch, Jared Schumacher and David Barylski; one sister, Patty Schneider of East Alton; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or St. Mary's Catholic Church.
