David Shanks

David Shanks, 66, of Taylorville, died August 29, 2006 at 2:25 P.M. in Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Springfield, IL.

David was born April 16, 1940 in Taylorville, the son of Leslie Eli and Telitha Emaline (Burkhart) Shanks. He retired from Caterpiller. He was a veteran of U.S. Navy.

He is survived by his son: Frederick Mikel and wife Pam of Bellville, daughters: Robin (husband Joe) Kindernay of Pawnee and Renee Vespa (husband Gary) of Pawnee, 9 grandchildren; sisters: Rose Hurtte (husband Jack) of West Frankfort, IL, Cheryl (husband Steve) DiGiovanna of Athens, IL; brother: Charles (wife Garnetta) Shanks of Taylorville, companion: Jeannie McConnel of Taylorville and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Shanks requested his body be donated to science. Memorial services will be held at the V.F.W., Taylorville, on Sunday, September 3, 2006 at 4:00 P.M.
