Delbert Lee "Red" Thomas, 80, of Sorento died at 4:22 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at Fair Oaks in Greenville.

Visitation will be from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Sorento Baptist Church. Memorial services will follow at 4:30 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Lin Brown officiating.

Cremation rites have been accorded with burial to be held at a later date. Perfetti Funeral Home in Sorento is in  charge of arrangements.

Mr. Thomas was born in East St. Louis on Sept. 16, 1932, the son of the late Delbert and Thelma E. (Walker) Thomas. He married Bertha M. Sewell in East St. Louis on Aug. 25, 1956, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 11, 2010.

A veteran of the Air Force, he was a welder and a member of the NRA who loved the outdoors.

Mr. Thomas is survived by five sons, Jimmy Thomas (companion Latisha Almanderez) and Wayne (wife Terry) Thomas, both of Sorento, Michael (wife Sherry) Thomas of Hillsboro, David Thomas (companion Vickie Radcliffe) of Marine and Rickey (wife Ashley) Thomas of Greenville; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Robert Frazier of Greenville; sisters-in-law, Rose Zobrist of Pierron, Sylvia Sewell of Pocahontas and Peggy Dyer Sewell of Vandalia; and cousins, John Hunt and Wilma Shack, both of Hillsboro, MO.

Memorials may be directed to the Sorento Baptist Church or Sorento Area Food Pantry.
