Demova Maxine Hoxsey

Demova Maxine Hoxsey, 91 of Sorento passed away at 5:05 AM on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Helia Healthcare in Greenville.

She was born on September 22, 1924 at Sorento the daughter of Marion and Bernice (Tipsword) Chesnut. She married Alfred Melvin Hoxsey on June 17, 1945 at St. Louis, MO; he preceded her in death on June 30, 1994. Her parents and a brother, Donald Chesnut also preceded her in death.

Maxine was a member of the Eastern Star and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She worked many years for the Secretary of State, retiring in 1987.

Survivors: Sons, Gary (Wife, Lila) Hoxsey of Wood River, IL and Gerry Hoxsey of Sorento, IL; Grandchildren, Jennifer (Husband, Casey) Kane of Sorento, IL and Michael (Wife, Jennifer) Hoxsey of Maryville, IL; Great Grandchildren, Alyson, Addison and Jadis; Great Great Grandchild, Channing; Daughter in law, Vicki Hoxsey of Highland, IL.

In honoring her wishes, a private family graveside service will be held on Friday at Sunnyside Cemetery in Sorento. Burial will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery.
