Dorice Grauer, 84, of Litchfield passed away Saturday, December 27, 2008, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Litchfield. He was born December 4,1924, in Kincaid, the son of William G. and Nettie R. Rhodes Grauer. He graduated from Kincaid High School. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II and was stationed in Japan.

He married Nina Marie Dotson on September 3, 1950 in the First Baptist Church in Taylorville. He retired from the Monteray Coal Company. He loved bowling, golfing, traveling, and especially spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the Elks Club, Moose Club, V.F.W., United Mine Workers, and the Litchfield Country Club. 

Surviving are his wife; brother-in-law, Lee Alan and wife Mary Anne Dotson of Vicksburg, MS; sisters-in-law: Sue and husband Lynn Crites, Barbara Smith, all of Taylorville, Margaret Grauer of Langleyville, and Betty T. "Gerry" Grauer of Kincaid; nephews: Bill Grauer, Gregory and wife Patricia Grauer, Randy, Kent and Bryan Phillips, Mike and wife Robin Dotson, and Mark and wife Diane Dotson; and niece: Roberta and husband Todd Beaty, Angela and husband David Griffin, Kelly and husband Ron Prichett, Kim and husband Bill Cox, Kathy and Mike Schulyler and Debbie and husband Richard Embry. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: La Verne, Ernest, Robert and Don Grauer: and brother-in-law: Clifford Smith and Jan Phillips.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m, Tuesday, December 30, at Shafer Funeral Home, Taylorville, with Rev. Michael Bates officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Taylorville, with military rites.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 30, at Shafer Funeral Home.
