Dorothy Griffiths

Dorothy V. Griffiths, 95, of Sorento died at 7:40 p.m. on Sunday, March 29, 2009, at Fair Oaks in Greenville.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 1, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Perfetti Funeral Home in Sorento. Funeral services will be on Thursday, April 2, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Ward Sussenbach officiating. Burial will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery, Sorento.

Born on May 21, 1913,in Sorento, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Mary K. (Martin) Cruthis. She married Euell "Doc" Griffiths on Sept. 29, 1932, at Greenville. He preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 2007.

Mrs. Griffiths was a member of the Sorento Free Methodist Church, Sorento Homecoming Association and Bond Association for the Handicapped.

Survivors include two sons, Lonnie (wife Gerry) Griffiths of Sorento, and Kerry "Keb" Griffiths of Greenville; five daughters, Shirley Joyce of Litchfield, Donna (husband Don "Buster") File of Vandalia, Jan Griffiths of Sorento, Diane (husband Vern) Brewer of Sorento, and Jo (husband Allen) Vonderhaar of Greenville; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Wilma Sulaski of Peoria, and Josie Cruthis of Greenville; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Griffiths; three brothers, Vern, Donald and Darrell Cruthis; four sisters, Pauline Sample, Lucille Wernsing, Bertha Prosise and Myrna Salonites; son-in-law, Johnny Joyce; and a great-granddaughter.
